Hi Folks,
I hope you had a nice Earth Day. I did. Sunny, warm, and lots of time spent outdoors, enjoying the fresh, wondrous beauty of an erupting west coast spring.
As I wandered the woods and beach, I thought about how pleasant it is to sometimes meander along, without a set goal.
Your eyes stray from object to object, until they are caught by something unexpected, something remarkable--one of what Confucius called the 10,000 wonders of nature. That got me thinking about the connection between "wander" and "wonder."
"Wonder" means "to speculate or be curious." "Wander” can mean, "to stray from the path." So does "err," the root of "error."
In life, we often try to stay on our path, and not to err. But what if we occasionally stayed from the set path> What if we let ourselves err?
Might we not discover more things to wonder about than if we merely keep our nose to the grindstone, our eyes on the prize?
I think so, and although I'm not advocating just wandering, or just wandering, I do think we can make life richer, more interesting, and, in the long run, more successful by taking a little time each day to wander, and wonder.
Hmm…?
